Are you a skillful and committed Senior Structural Engineer, looking to take on a new challenge in a Principal position?

As a Principal Structural Engineer you will be responsible for the design and management of a diverse range of projects across sectors to including education, commercial, custodial and residential and central government. You will be responsible for effectively managing engineering teams to deliver exceptional technical and commercial structural solutions, ensuring they are delivered to the highest quality, on time, and to budget

You will be required to undertake stakeholder engagement including clients, contractors and end-users.

About You

As a Principal Structural Engineer, you will be passionate about designing sustainable buildings, working within a forward thinking multi-disciplinary practice and be enthused by working across varying sectors within the built environment.

Our ideal Principal Structural Engineer must have:

  • Exceptional Structural Engineering knowledge with a deep understanding of key principles embedded in theory and practice, with a proactive approach to problem solving.
  • Excellent verbal communication. An ability to communicate ideas, and effectively work with clients, members of the design team, and manage/supervise/mentor employees.
  • Experience relevant to UK practice and knowledge of UK design standards, codes of practice and methods of construction.
  • Familiarity with structural engineering modelling, analysis, and design software (Tekla Structural Designer, Tedds and STAAD Pro, Revit, Navisworks, BIM360).
    • The ability and willingness to manage/supervise/mentor employees.

It would be nice for you to have:

  • Chartered membership of ICE or IStructE
  • The motivation to undertake relevant CPD and to increase skills and knowledge.
  • Experience in day-to-day control of resourcing, programming, planning and costs.
  • Exhibit effective team management skills.
  • A knowledge of forms of appointment and construction contracts
  • Excellent report writing and presentation skills
