Our Opportunity

Are you an enthusiastic and driven school leaver, looking to start a career in geoscience and construction?

This exciting role would give you the opportunity to learn and earn as we support you in developing your knowledge of Geo-Environmental Services. As a Geo-Environmental Technician, you will be responsible for supporting the Contaminated Land and Geotechnical Teams in the delivery of ground investigation works, and contaminated land and geotechnical consulting from project inception to completion. You will assist and manage the collection of site investigation data, support in desktop site assessments, and assist the technical leads in the design and implementation of groundwater and ground gas monitoring programmes. You will need to carefully ensure that the information you collect and report is correct and in context, as important decisions are made based on its integrity.

The role is a mixture of office and site based, with regular travel around the country to visit our sites as part of a team or independently. With more experience, you will be able to specify monitoring programmes and techniques, undertake simple investigative works and manage your own projects.  You will need to be able to work well on your own and as part of a team, onsite in both urban and remote locations in everything the great British weather can throw at you, problem solve, and be comfortable staying away from home for up to a week at a time.

Experience working onsite or within the field of contaminated land/geosciences is not required, and full training will be given for the job role.

Future Opportunities:

After 6-12 months of working with us, there is the additional option to enroll on one of three degree apprenticeship schemes (subject to availability, entry requirements, and aptitude):

Pick Everard will support you through either course via day or block release, and provide you a mentor(s) to support you through the assessment phases.  Upon completion of the apprenticeship you would move onto the ‘Consultant’ career path, and look to specialise in either Contaminated Land, Engineering Geology or Geotechnical Design. Alternatively, you can elect to remain on the Technicians pathway, eventually becoming a Senior Technician and supporting the team with more complex projects.
