Are you a Senior Mechanical Engineer looking to develop and further your career, within a company who can provide a genuine platform for career progression within 6 months? If so, then we would love to hear from you.

At the start of our new 2025 Business Plan, we are looking to appoint a commercial forward-thinking and driven Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our practice in Bury St Edmunds, with the flexibility for both office and home working. The successful candidate can expect to become involved in a range of diverse and interesting schemes across both the private and public sector, with clients including schools, defence, developers, and commercial outlets.

The successful engineer will have responsibilities including the following:

  • Design and management of part or whole projects, delivering technical and commercial solutions
  • Running various projects, in terms of size, type and complexity, ensuring they are delivering to the requisite quality, on time and on budget
  • Preparing and managing designs, feasibility studies, reports and contract documents
  • Carrying out building analysis
  • Liaising with clients and contractors

About You

This role will suit a self-motivated senior mechanical engineer who perhaps is looking to take that next step forward within their career. Key skills and experience we would like you to have: 


  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) or IEng, BEng or similar with relevant years’ experience or 8+ years mechanical engineering experience
  • Significant experience of mechanical building services / HVAC design (ie. domestic water services, ventilation, heating, cooling)
  • Hands on knowledge and understanding of IES, Hevacomp and AutoCAD; experience with Revit MEP is desirable
  • Knowledge of current legislation e.g. UK Building Regulations, also Low/Zero Carbon Technologies and BREEAM
  • Excellent design skills across a variety of sectors
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to manage time and work to tight deadlines
  • Team player
