Be part of our dynamic and forward-thinking team as a Principal Structural Engineer in our thriving, well-established Glasgow office, where collaboration and innovation drive everything we do.

As a vital member of the team, you'll contribute to the successful delivery of major Highways, Public Realm, and Infrastructure projects—including Residential, Custodial, Healthcare, Education, Ministry of Justice, Commercial, and Leisure developments

Your core responsibilities will include:

  • Deliver high-quality, technically robust structural engineering projects.
  • Ensure commercial success through effective project control and risk management.
  • Minimise health and safety risks across projects and the wider discipline.
  • Contribute to bids and support business development initiatives.
  • Mentor and develop junior engineers, supporting their progression toward chartership.
  • Promote sustainable engineering practices and integrate them into projects.
  • Support discipline growth, policy development, and operational improvements.
  • Collaborate effectively with teams, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Embody Pick Everard staff competencies and commit to ongoing professional development.
  • Compliance with Health & Safety requirements, practices and procedures.

About You

Our ideal Principal Structural Engineer must have:

  • Chartered Engineer with either the ICE or IStructE. Alternatively demonstrate relevant experience to suit the role.
  • Very good technical problem solving, risk management and mitigation.
  • Ability to use various computer software programmes relevant to role (Tekla, Tedds, SCIA, AutoCAD).
  • Able to carry out site inspections.
  • Understanding of forms of appointment and construction contracts.
  • Strong report writing and presentation skills.
  • An advanced knowledge of structural engineering modelling, analysis, and design software (Tekla Structural Designer, Tedds and STAAD Pro, Revit, Navisworks, BIM360).
  • The motivation to undertake relevant CPD and to increase skills and knowledge.
  • Ability to develop effective team management skills.
  • Good commercial experience - bids, client management, growth.
  • Project management skills ensuring timely delivery and managing spend.
