Our Opportunity

Contribute to a large campus redevelopment including new accommodation, office and landscape.

Due to ongoing growth and securing new work in the education sector across the North West, we have an immediate requirement for a Project Manager to join the practice. Working with an experienced and supportive team the successful Project Manager will join the team in Manchester and become part of the collaborative culture at Pick Everard leading some of our key construction projects across the higher education sector. 

As Project Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the design and management of projects. You can expect to become involved in a range of exciting and challenging schemes and longer term be involved in the private and public sectors, with clients including residential developers, hospitals, retail outlets and leisure centres.

Other responsibilities of the role include:

  • Agree and develop the client’s brief from inception in conjunction with any other consultants appointed
  • Co-ordinate, manage and communicate with the client, project stakeholders and other consultants appointed to meet requirements of the project
  • Preparation of programmes and undertaking programme management
  • Undertake change management, co-ordinate the design process, oversee and manage the control of the project both pre- and post-contract including financial expenditure throughout all RIBA stages.
  • Co-ordinate and manage the development of the procurement strategy and procurement activities
  • Undertake and participate in risk-, value- and opportunities management, including facilitating workshops to ensure that these activities are controlled within the project team including contractors, sub-contractors, and the supply chain
  • Prepare and issue reports, including but not limited to preparation of Project Execution Plans (PEP), Strategy Reports, Risk Registers, Progress Reports etc.
  • Ensure that the project meets statutory approvals and take actions as necessary to ensure that the projects meet these statutory responsibilities

This role provides a challenging and exciting opportunity to develop within growing dynamic team, supported by expertise across our multi-disciplinary consultancy.

About You

Ideally you will have:

  • Experience in a compatible role in the construction environment, with ideally public sector Project Management background
  • HNC/HND or a construction related degree
  • A working knowledge of: building technology and construction principles, building contracts and contract administration, control of day to day programming and planning, progress and expenditure monitoring
  • A good understanding of risk and opportunity management, including identification, allocation, mitigation and transfer of risks
  • Experience in using Microsoft Project or Primavera software
