Apprentice Structural TechnicianStructural Engineering

If you have an interest in construction and engineering and an ambition to start your career in Structural Engineering then join us for an apprenticeship.  

 

The Bury St Edmunds Structures team is currently looking for an enthusiastic and driven school leaver who is looking to start their career in the construction industry as an Apprentice Structural Technician. This exciting role would give you the opportunity to learn and earn as we support you in developing your technical knowledge and drawing ability.

  • Develop knowledge in structural design and detailing under the support of technicians and engineers.
  • Learn to prepare drawings from engineer’s details.
  • Undertake elemental design calculations.
  • Carry out general administration and issuing of drawings.
  • Assists in on-site survey work and manage procurement of site data and archive material.
  • Check drawings/schedules prepared by others.

 

You will initially attend a local college on a day release basis to study, as well as benefit from the coaching and guidance of our experienced Chartered Engineers.

About You

Our ideal apprentice will have:

  • A keen interest in technology and computer aided design. 
  •  An interest in construction and engineering.
  • Motivation to progress onto further qualifications to continuously professionally develop.
  • At least 5 GCSEs including Maths, English and Science 9-4/A*-C or equivalent.
  •  A good eye for detail.
  • A willingness to attend site inspections on occasion under the supervision of an engineer
  • Ability to work well in a team.
  • Passion for digital modelling delivery (desirable).
