We are seeking a competent and appropriately qualified Clerk of Works to join our construction and project delivery team. The successful candidate will play a key role in monitoring construction quality, workmanship, compliance and progress across a range of projects, ensuring works are delivered in accordance with the contract documentation, specifications and relevant statutory requirements.
Working closely with the Employer’s Agent, contractors, consultants and stakeholders, you will provide independent site inspections and quality assurance throughout all stages of construction through to handover and defects rectification.
This role is suited to an individual with strong technical knowledge, excellent attention to detail and experience within a construction inspection, Clerk of Works or site inspection environment.
Your core responsibilities will include:
• Attending project briefing meetings with the Employer and Employer’s Agent to understand the project scope, programme, quality expectations and key deliverables.
• Reviewing and familiarising yourself with all relevant project documentation, including drawings, specifications, contracts, programmes and planning information.
• Carrying out regular site inspections to monitor workmanship, materials, progress and compliance with contract requirements, specifications and Building Regulations.
• Attending site progress meetings and providing clear updates on quality, progress, and any issues or risks identified on site.
• Monitoring contractor performance and reporting concerns relating to workmanship, programme, safety, or compliance with the Employer’s Requirements.
• Liaising effectively with contractors, consultants and stakeholders to support the smooth and coordinated delivery of works on site.
• Reviewing contractor quality management documentation, including inspection and testing plans and associated records.
• Ensuring works are inspected at appropriate stages before being covered up and witnessing testing and commissioning activities where required.
• Identifying, recording and reporting any defects, non-conforming works, or discrepancies between site conditions and contract documentation.
• Maintaining accurate and timely site records, including inspection reports, photographic records and weekly progress updates.
• Supporting the handover process by undertaking snagging inspections and monitoring the completion of outstanding works.
• Attending final inspections at the end of the defects period and preparing schedules of outstanding defects where required.
• Maintaining awareness of health and safety requirements on site and reporting any concerns immediately in line with project procedures.
