We are looking to appoint an Associate Architect to join our growing Architectural team.

This is a fantastic and exciting opportunity to help shape the architecture team in London, Nottingham or Bristol. You’ll join a growing and evolving division, leading a range of design and sustainability projects, delivering work for the Ministry of Justice on the Future Prisons Programme, a sole supplier framework expected to continue over several years.
This role offers a significant opportunity for professional development, leadership, and influence within a dynamic, expanding practice that values design quality, team development, and social impact.

Our Architectural team also works across an array of other sectors, including education, blue light, healthcare, industrial, leisure and residential. If you have experience delivering within any of these areas, we encourage you to apply.

We ensure our Architects are involved in all aspects of a project and embedded within a collaborative architectural team. You will work across all RIBA stages on a varied programme of work within the custodial sector, giving you broad exposure and the opportunity to contribute to projects from early design through to delivery. You will be given individual pieces of work to undertake with supervision, work alongside talented mentors, and be encouraged and supported to develop and express your design and technical skills

 
Your core responsibilities will include:
  • Supporting the Director in managing key client relationships, project performance, and resource planning.
  • Leading the development of design concepts and technical solutions across various project stages. 

  • Contributing to project delivery strategies, including programming, fees, and risk management.

  • Taking responsibility for compliance with quality standards and regulatory requirements.

  • Driving coordination across disciplines and ensuring seamless communication within the wider consultant team.

  • Representing the practice in meetings, reviews, and stakeholder engagements with professionalism and insight.

About You

Our ideal Associate will have:
  • The ability to support the strategic objectives of the business and contribute at a senior level within both the discipline and wider management team.
  • Proven experience undertaking management responsibilities, including effective line management and pastoral care of team members.
  • A strong track record of leading and delivering projects of varying scale and complexity across multiple sectors and all stages of design and delivery.
  • Experience working collaboratively within large, multidisciplinary teams, including on major and complex projects.
  • The capability to work closely with Directors to manage project briefs, fees, costs, programmes and deliverables.
  • Demonstrated expertise in leading design development, technical detailing, specification and coordination from project inception through to completion.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the confidence to engage clients and project teams and to chair meetings and design reviews.
  • Experience managing and supporting architectural teams to ensure collaborative working and high-quality project outcomes.
  • A thorough understanding of, and commitment to, compliance with relevant legislation, technical standards and regulations.
  • Qualification as a registered Architect with substantial post-qualification experience.
  • A genuine passion for design, with strong experience across multiple sectors, all design stages and large, complex projects.
  • In-depth knowledge of sustainable design, technical detailing, specifications, materials, contract administration and NBS.
  • Strong organisational skills and adaptability, with the ability to multitask, work to tight deadlines and collaborate effectively.
  • Proficiency in Revit and Microsoft Office, with the ability to clearly communicate design ideas through sketches and drawings.
